Toilets & Plumbing: We ask that you do not flush any foreign objects or personal hygiene products down the toilets! Our onsite waste system is far more susceptible to having issues than a public sanitary sewer system. Please report any running toilets immediately.
Showers and Faucets: Please help us conserve water by not allowing the water to run while washing up or brushing teeth, flush only when necessary, and do your best to take short showers. If you have children, please keep this in mind and explain to them why it's so important to conserve our most precious resource. Please report any running toilets or dripping faucets to the villa concierge immediately. We appreciate your help.
Air Conditioning Unit: The A/C works very well and will cool down the cottage very quickly. When not in the cottage or when out and about the island we ask that you turn off the A/C.
Electricity: The cost of electricity in the US Virgin Islands is roughly 400% to 600% more, than the cost on the mainland. Please conserve electricity by making sure all windows and doors are shut while running the air-conditioner. In addition, while you are away from the villa during the day or in the evening, please shut raise the temperature. Again, please remind children of the importance of this.
Laundry and Dishwasher: Coconut Cottage has a washer, dryer and dishwasher for your use. When doing laundry or using the dishwasher, please conserve water by only running a complete load at a time.
Water: Our only source of water is rainfall which is caught via the roof and stored in cisterns beneath the house. We have installed water purification and filtration system with a sediment filter, a charcoal filter and a ultra violet light which are replaced on a regular schedule.
